Chat GPT AI Connector Guide

Welcome to the beta for our new AI connector! This guide will walk you through how to connect your Grasshopper Business Banking account with OpenAI's Chat GPT. Once connected, you’ll be able to engage in a direct and secure conversation with your financial data through our Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, giving you personalized insights powered by leading artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Before You Begin

Before you connect your account to Chat GPT, there are a few requirements to ensure a smooth and secure setup. The AI connector is designed for Business Banking clients using supported versions of Chat GPT, and it relies on authenticated access to your financial data to deliver accurate insights. Please confirm you have the following before getting started:

• Grasshopper Business Banking Account: Access is limited to startup and small-to-medium business (SMB) clients on our Business Banking platform. You’ll need your digital banking login credentials to connect.
• Chat GPT Subscription: A paid subscription to Chat GPT Pro, Business, or Enterprise plan is required. The free version of Chat GPT is not supported, as meaningful analysis requires access to larger datasets.
• Connector Permissions: Only the account owners can create new custom connectors on Chat GPT team plans.

Step-by-Step Connection Guide

Connecting Chat GPT to your Grasshopper account should only take a few minutes. To maximize security of your financial data, you may be prompted to log in regularly to re-establish the connection.

1. Login to Chat GPT Desktop
2. Navigate to your profile
3. Select Workspace Settings
4. Click Connectors
5. Click Create & Enable Developer Mode
6. In the dialog box that appears, copy and paste the following information:
   1. Name: Grasshopper Bank AI Connector
   2. Remote MCP Server URL: https://grasshopper-mcp.prd.narmitech.com/mcp
7. Select Create
   1. After adding the custom connector and clicking create, you will be redirected to the login page for our business banking platform.
8. Login to Grasshopper
   1. Use your normal online banking credentials to login. You may also be prompted to complete multi-factor authentication.
   2. Upon logging in to our business banking platform, a screen will appear asking for your permission to grant Chat GPT secure, read-only access to your account information. You must authorize the connection to proceed.
9. Select Authorize
   1. Once you authorize the connection, you will be redirected back to Chat GPT, where a message will confirm the connection was successful.

Note: Chat GPT connectivity may be less stable than Claude. For best results, ensure ‘Developer Mode' is enabled in your Chat GPT settings. After the connection has been established, you have the option to make the connector available to members of your workspace. Each team member will need to authenticate individually with their Grasshopper login to access the connector. Be sure to review and understand the associated risks before publishing. For your security, connections must be re-authenticated within Chat GPT every 7 days to continue to continue authorizing access to your bank account data.

Chatting with Chat GPT

When you ask a question that requires our connector, ChatGPT will request permission to access your financial data.  To continue, select Fetch.

Once granted, ChatGPT can securely use your Grasshopper data to provide personalized insights, answer your questions, and assist with analysis. You can revoke access at any time through your account settings.
