Before you begin, you will be asked acknowledge that you have read the Beta Agreement and fully understand the landscape and your role in it.
The MCP server and AI Integration is an experimental, read-only beta feature. After connecting your account, the AI assistant cannot initiate transactions, move funds, or make any changes to your account. Any future "write" capabilities would require a separate, explicit agreement with additional security controls.
Your account data is only shared when you explicitly grant access. Once data is securely transmitted from the MCP Server, our control over the data ceases. You are solely responsible for the security of your AI, its platform, your devices, and understanding its data usage. You can decide how often you share your account data, and you can revoke access at anytime. For your security, connections must be re-authenticated every 7 days.
AI-generated insights are based on your financial data but should be verified before making major decisions. AI can provide incorrect information or advice, as well as misinterpret the data feed from the connector, so we encourage you to treat these insights as suggestions, not directives, as your financial decisions are ultimately your own.
An AI assistant (often called an AI agent) or large language model (LLM) is a sophisticated computer program that mimics human intelligence and is trained on massive amounts of data to comprehend your questions and generate clear, natural-sounding text and analysis. Popular examples include Athropic’s Claude, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Google’s Gemini.
This initiative aligns with open banking principles, allowing you to securely share your financial data with third-party applications. Similar to connecting your Grasshopper Bank account to payment apps like Venmo or Cash App via Plaid, the MCP server establishes a secure connection with bank-grade security protocols and encryption to transmit bank data to supported AI platforms for financial insights and analysis.
While Claude and ChatGPT Admin users can share connectors with their team, only team members with Grasshopper Bank login credentials can establish the connection and access bank account data.
Once the connection is established, permissions are managed separately within Grasshopper’s online banking platform and the respective AI provider’s platform, allowing administrators to view, modify, or revoke access at any time.
